Timeform take you through the card on the second day of the July Festival at Newmarket…
“…was impressive in the Albany and is likely to be tough to beat again…”
Timeform on Daahyeh
13:50 – MIGRATION (9) was disappointing in the Britannia, but looked a handicapper going places when winning on the Rowley over 1m prior to that and he could raise his game over this trip. There’s plenty of collateral form given the aforementioned Ascot race and the London Gold Handicap at Newbury are well represented, with SOLID STONE (11) expected to get back on the up and this is the type of puzzle requiring two selections in the perm.
14:25 – DAAHYEH (4) was impressive in the Albany and is likely to be tough to beat again with further improvement on the cards (already sets the standard on that performance). Celtic Beauty chased her home at Royal Ascot and can be a factor, while the Queen Mary form is also placed under the microscope in the shape of Raffle Prize and Final Song, first and third respectively.
15:00 – CALIBURN (11) has improved again this term, confirming all the promise of his return/yard debut display at York when running out a convincing winner at Pontefract last month. He’s open to further progress and may well be underestimated in various betting markets. Ben Vrackie is officially ahead of the assessor and has been all the rage for this, but there could be some mileage in trying for a “result leg” with KING’S ADVICE (5) a handicapper to view positively still despite having win winning run ended in the Northumberland Plate (wasn’t seen to best effect).
15:35 – The form of QABALA’s (6) third in the 1,000 Guineas reads well and her subsequent poor effort in the Irish equivalent is easy to draw a line through given she scoped dirty. She’s worth another chance to make the breakthrough at the top level. I Can Fly and One Master both acquitted themselves well at Royal Ascot last month and the latter has already won at the highest level, so both should be firmly on the premises.
16:10 – KIPLING (8) is bred in the purple and shaped with plenty of encouragement when runner-up at the Curragh on debut last month. He is open to plenty of improvement and is taken to go one better. Mass Media has to be respected after his good second here last time, while Dubawi newcomer Al Suhail presumably arrives with a very tall reputation given his position at the head of the betting.
16:45 – BREATHTAKING LOOK (3) produced a massive career best when a ready winner over C&D three weeks ago, a performance backed up by the clock and it’s highly likely there’s more still to come from her after just five career starts. Jaleel also won at this track and trip last time and should have more to offer provided his quirks can be kept in check, while La Maquina had little go right at Kempton and remains of interest now returned to 7f.
17:20 – A number of these have question marks against them but ORVAR (4) is on his last winning mark and is taken to open his account for the season having shown clear signs of a resurgence of late (just ahead of the re-opposing Lord Riddiford in a better race than this at the Curragh a fortnight ago).
