The Daily Acca: Back Seattle in their own backyard

Atlanta’s away day blues to continue

Bet 1: Back Seattle Sounders @ 21/20 – KO 20:55 BST

Atlanta United are the reigning MLS champions, but they have lost seven of their 19 matches this year, and six of them have come from their nine away outings.

Today they travel to Seattle, to take on a Sounders team who are fourth in the Western Conference, largely down to the fact that they have recorded seven home victories from nine fixtures at CenturyLink Field – the other two were draws.

The visitors have won three times on their travels, but they all came between mid-April and mid-May. Their last four have all been losses, and they conceded 11 goals across the four games.

Chapecoense to be beaten at home

Bet 2: Back Atletico MG @ 12/5 – KO 23:00 BST

The selection are away at Chapecoense tonight, and while the hosts are the favourites to get the win, I think that the value is on Atletico MG.

The Rooster have played four times on the road this season, and after beating both Vasco da Gama and Ceara, they then went and loss at Gremio and Santos. The latter two named teams are amongst the best sides in the division though, while today’s opponents are not.

Ney Franco’s men finished their campaign in 14th place last year as they continue to rebuild following their 2016 tragedy.

They are currently 17th after nine matches of this season, and although they are usually relatively strong at home, they have gone four without a win – losing to both Fortaleza and Palmeiras.

Goals to flow in the Empire State

Bet 3: Back Over 2.5 Goals in New York Red Bulls v New York City @ 8/15 – KO 23:30 BST

We finish back in the States for the Hudson River Derby, between New York Red Bulls and New York City.

Neither of these two teams are in great form as the Metros have lost two of their last four – just one win – while the Pigeons saw their unbeaten run come to an end last week, as they lost 1-0 at home to Portland.

I am backing goals in this one, as the stats are pointing towards a high-scoring affair. Five of the Red Bulls’ last half dozen at home have at least three goals, while their state rivals have scored two or more in five of their last six on their travels.
