Stuttgart vs Wolfsburg
Competition: Germany Bundesliga
Date: 11 May 2019
Kick-off: 15:30 CET
Stuttgart have a five-point gap between them and 17th-placed Nurnberg, and also sit six points ahead of 18th-placed Hannover, so they need two points to be mathematically sure of finishing 16th. Obviously, even losing to Wolfsburg will be ok, as long as Nurnberg and Hannover don’t win their games. If they do finish 16th, which is the most-most probable, they will face the third-placed of the second division in home-and-away playoff matches. They are expected to start with Zieler, Pavard, Kabak, Kempf, Sosa, Gentner, Castro, Aogo, Didavi, Donis and Gomez. Last weekend they lost the game in Berlin, to Hertha (3-1), they lost Beck as well; he got injured, and had to undergo surgery. Zuber is also injured, unavailable, and Ascacibar is suspended.
Back-to-back wins over Hoffenheim and Nurnberg have pushed Wolfsburg up 7th in the table, good enough to earn them a Europa League ticket. Sitting just two points behind 4th-placed Eintracht though, the Wolves have every reason to still dream of playing Champions League football next season. Next weekend they will be hosting Augsburg, so they have more than real chances of earning six more points, hoping that the teams right above them will drop some, either this, or next weekend. They should start with Pervan, William (back from suspension), Knoche, Brooks, Roussillon, Gerhardt, Guilavogui, Arnold, Mehmedi, Ginczek and Weghorst. Unlike them, Camacho and Casteels are out, not at Bruno Labbadia’s disposal. Wolfsburg had three defeats in a row on the road before beating Hoffenheim in Sinsheim two weeks ago, which made that 1-4(!) all the more surprising.

Stuttgart vs Wolfsburg: Prediction
I expect Wolfsburg to win the game. I don’t doubt Stuttgart’s… hunger to secure the 16th spot this weekend, not wait until the next one, but Wolfsburg are at a far better place right now, and should get the job done.
