Santos vs Corinthians
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 13 June 2019
Kick-off: 02:30 CET
Someone could say Santos won the… “wrong” game, or at least the “less important” one; they beat Atlético Mineiro 3-1 last weekend, but they lost to the same team a few days earlier in Copa do Brasil, a defeat that left them out of the remainder of the competition this season. Despite the win last weekend, some fans were… less than happy, turning against the players (at least until the first goal), exactly because of their elimination in Copa do Brasil. Jorge Sampaoli defended the team, saying though that he understands the fans’ reactions, product of their love for the team/club, as the Argentinian said. He is expected to have Everson, Victor Ferraz, Felipe Aguilar, Gustavo Henrique, Jorge, Diego Pituca, Jean Lucas, Jean Mota (or Carlos Sánchez; he scored a fantastic goal last weekend), Marinho, Eduardo Sasha (or Uribe) and Soteldo in the starting lineup in this game. Santos are second in the table, two points behind leaders Palmeiras, but having played a game more than them.
Corinthians drew with Cruzeiro in Belo Horizonte last weekend, earning their 12th point in the championship. They sit 10th in the table, but have a game in hand, the one against Goiás, that will be played after the Copa América break. Coach Fábio Carille told reporters that 19-year-old centre-back Bruno Méndez will start instead of right-back Michel, who is injured. The young Uruguayan is not a “classic” right-back, but has played there before. Experienced striker Vagner Love was to undergo some final exams Tuesday afternoon so as to see if he could travel with the team to nearby Santos. Carille is expected to have Walter (substituting Cássio, on duty with Brazil’s national team), Bruno Méndez, Manoel, Henrique, Danilo Avelar, Ralf, Júnior Urso, Jadson, Sornoza, Clayson and Gustagol in the starting lineup.

Santos vs Corinthians: Head to head Stats
Four Santos wins and a draw in the last five games between these two with “O Peixe” as host.
Santos vs Corinthians: Prediction
The game is held in Santos, at O Peixe’s real home, not at Pacaembu (Sao Paulo), where they play more than half their home games. I like the hosts’ chances of winning the game.
Santos vs Corinthians: Betting Tips
