Nigeria vs South Africa
Competition: Africa Cup of Nations
Date: 10 July 2019
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Nigeria had scored just two goals in three group matches earlier in the tournament before facing Cameroon in the round of 16, but… somehow they “remembered” what it is like to score freely, and they ended up winning 3-2, bouncing back from what happened in the last five minutes of the first half; from 1-0 up, they went 1-2 down, looking… at a loss for an explanation. Ighalo scored his second personal in the 63rd minute, and soon after that he provided the assist for Iwobi’s goal, which was meant to be the last of the match. What’s impressive is that half the reports you could read these last days regarding Nigeria’s national team, were about Gernot Rohr, their German coach, and whether he should get fired(!) or not, even if they win the AFCON title(!). It feels like Rohr has… lost many people’s heart in Nigeria, people who can’t let go of that embarrassing 2-0 defeat to Madagascar in the group stage.
Wow… That was… Wow… Hardly any words to describe it… South Africa, a team that qualified for the last 16 on just three points from as many games in their group, beating lowly Namibia 1-0 and losing both to Ivory Coast and Morocco, beat hosts Egypt 1-0(!!!), an Egypt side that finished the group stage on nine points and three clean sheets, an Egypt side playing in front of a… sea of people, their own people, at home. With five minutes left on the clock, it felt like the game was heading to extra time. That’s when Egypt were caught off-guard; two South Africans went on a counterattack finding only one Egyptian defender at the back, Lorch received the ball, took an absolutely perfect shot, 0-1 in the 85th minute, and… deafening silence at the stadium. At this point, South Africa have got absolutely nothing to lose. If they managed to beat Egypt, they can beat anyone in this tournament.

Nigeria vs South Africa: Prediction
We’ve seen teams in major tournaments produce back-to-back surprises, even massive ones, but I don’t think this will be the case this time. One way or another, I expect Nigeria to prove they are superior to South Africa, and qualify.
Nigeria vs South Africa: Betting Tips
Nigeria’s win is at 2.00. Combined with “under 2.5 goals” that goes up to 3.25. South Africa may have lost two games in the tournament, but in both, against Ivory Coast and Morocco, they made things hard for their rivals, conceding no more than one goal. Not to mention that they kept a clean sheet against mighty Egypt…Do you want daily and profitable Betting Tips?
