After a tricky start to the week, Kev’s hoping for an odds-against winner tonight in Brazil.
“Botafogo have won their last four home matches in league and cup, while Gremio haven’t won a top-flight match on the road since November, and are missing players because of injury and international commitments.”
Hosts to augment flying start

A Turin tragedy for usas Italy’s 2-1 win over Bosnia was good enough for the Azzurri, but just a bit short of what we needed on the Asian Handicap.
We’ll leave EURO 2020 behind, and head to Brazil. Botafogo are on the charge in the early weeks of the Serie A season, while Gremio have stalled in the starting blocks.
Botafogo finished a solid yet unspectacular ninth last term, but they are flying at the moment. A run of four wins in the last five league matches has propelled them into the top four, and they have just swept aside Paraguayan team Sol de Asuncion 4-0 on aggregate in the Copa Sudamericana. At home they have been flawless, winning all four of their games in league and cup since the top-flight season started.
Gremio made a sticky start, but have recovered with a run of three wins in four matches in league and cup. However, they continue to struggle on the road. They have lost their last two league matches away from home, and they haven’t won a league game away from the Arena do Gremio since November.
Gremio are still missing a clutch of players because of injury, while Matheus Henrique and Everton are away on national team duty with Brazil at youth and senior level respectively. Botafogo have been excellent on home soil, and can take advantage of Gremio’s travel-sickness here.
